SPANISH 1
The Spanish 1 course concentrates on the primary linguistic skills, understanding and intelligible control of basic sound patterns, comprehension and manipulation of selected structural patterns, recognition of the same patterns and vocabulary when written. Special focus is placed on the ability to read controlled new material and write intelligible short communications within the limits of the structures and vocabulary learned. In addition to the language skills, basic traditions and customs of the Hispanic world are introduced. Both oral and written objective-type examinations are given.
SPANISH 2
The Spanish 2 course begins with a comprehensive review of the grammar and vocabulary of the Spanish 1 course and continues to stress the primary linguistic skills of Spanish 1 while introducing increasingly more complex structural patterns. This course will then connect with other disciplines such as: English Language Arts, Health, Mathematics, Science and Technology, and Social Studies. Spanish 2 also identifies careers in which knowing more than one language is useful.
